Wish I'd said that!

In recent decades, the ACLU has used its so-called "wall" to fight tooth and nail to prevent government sponsorship of the Pledge of Allegiance, memorial crosses, Ten Commandments displays, nativity scenes, Bible displays, and virtually every other acknowdgement of America's religious heritage.

At the same time, it is worthwhile to note that there have been some instances in which the ACLU has endorsed public displays of religion. For example, When New York City Mayor Rudi Giuliani threatened to cut taxpayer funding from the Brooklyn Museum of Art for displaying a painting of the Virgin Mary with cow dung and pictures of female sexual organs pasted all over her body, the ACLU was first in line to defend the display. U.S. District Court Judge Nina Gershon ruled that New York City's elected officials were not allowed to place conditions on the museum's funding.

In another instance, the ACLU offered its support to the taxpayer-funded National Endowment for the Arts, after the agency sponsored an art show featuring "Piss Christ" - an exhibit consisting of a crucifix submerged in a jar of urine.

In the ACLU's myopic world, it appears that the only permissible publicly-funded displays of religion are those which blatantly mock or disparage the Christian faith.

America's swan song?

I realize (from my stats) that virtually no one bothers to actually read this tacky little blog (of course, you are, so far), either because you don't believe what I'm telling you, or you don't agree with what I'm telling you, or you simply don't care what's happening to this country, or you're just too damn lazy busy to read it. That's OK; I often have to back off from the sensory overload myself.  But may I ask you - especially if you've been avoiding all similar hard-to-accept opinions and news facts, to begin paying attention? Because in all honesty, and based on the evidence of things that are happening all around us day by day, there may not be much time left to get any real, worthwhile news or opinion from the usual 'blamestream media' other than the official 'party line' (also known as propaganda).

Perhaps you haven't noticed, but this country is in deep, deep trouble. Life as you knew it is going away.  In fact, life in America today is a lot different than it was only a decade or so ago, but when a process occurs over a long time it goes unnoticed, until it becomes so obvious you wonder why you didn't see it coming. One of the glaring differences I've noticed is that we have a lot fewer freedoms than we did, and a lot more restrictions in where we go, how we get there, what we can do there and how much it costs. We even have less freedom in our own homes, including legal restrictions on the right to protect ourselves. Also, the courts of law often tends to favor the lawbreakers and prosecute the honest citizen, and in the current political atmosphere, this often occurs along the lines of racial bias, of every color.

Another problem is that the law enforcement culture has changed, turning away from the restrained, thoughtful "Adam-12" stereotypes we wish American cops were like. Too many police have reverted to the more callous, less reserved, less thoughtful, thin-skinned and much more 'dynamically reactive' behavioral model (another way of saying, they've become bullies with a badge and gun). In many cases, this increased aggressiveness is a reaction to a much more dangerous and unpredictable criminal element, as well has being put in the precarious position of enforcing unpopular, idiotic or provocative laws. Others, however, use the badge as an outlet and cover for their own latent criminality, leaving the hapless victim in many cases with few if any options.

But as bad as that sounds, it is getting worse.  When you look outside your personal sphere of existence to the greater culture, it becomes obvious that America is becoming just another  Balkanized group of states, often governed by criminals and petty tyrants each vying for the power seats.  Culturally, people have been taught over the years that cruelty to others is little more than a gateway to self-gratification; taught by Planned Parenthood's devaluation of human life, by the cultural elite's constant bombardment of the masses with psychological immersion in violent, horrific media caricatures, the deliberate provocations of a race war by race-baiting activists (most of whom sit comfortably on the sidelines, smiling and profiting by their activism) and by the diseducational system's systemic indoctrination into Marxism and Darwinian anti-survivalist illogic and the dismissal of Natural Law through the steady drumbeat of relativism.

With the degradation of our cultural values, increased criminality among the lawmakers and law enforcers, it's no surprise that lawbreakers are getting bolder, especially as the gang mentality spreads. One new tactic appears to be a sort of criminal flash-mob, in which large groups of people file into a store and simply start grabbing armfuls of goods before running out, leaving the proprietors with their jaws open and their income devastated (especially in a time when many businesses are barely able to keep their doors open. If this trend of thievery continues, we will either see an end to open store aisles, or an end to stores, period. Just one more step toward the bankrupting of the formerly greatest nation on earth, brought to you by dishonest stewards of the country and the pilots of culture: politicians, financial leaders, teachers, false-hearted religious leaders, and the "arts community".

Even our vaunted and respected US military - arguably the best in the world - is being incrementally emasculated, strategically weakened, disconnected from our traditions and values. And worst of all, they are now being divided from their once-common faith - that phantom element which inspires, strengthens and offers cohesion to one another is being whittled away, first by the inclusion of poorly-vetted Muslim imams, then by Wiccans, and now, they are being prodded to include atheists to the chaplaincy. How long will the military's cohesion last when this social experiment fails as thoroughly as it has in the general culture?

People are getting more stupid. Not necessarily less active, and certainly not less intelligent; just less aware of the end game and how they are being channeled into action by people intent on using them as the equivalent of 'cannon fodder'.  The entire culture is being dumbed down.  In fact, perhaps the most tragic aspect of what's happening (other than the fate of all the victims of their actions) is the apparent blissful ignorance of the true 'useful idiots' of the Left; the children who are taught socialist chants, the teens and pre-teens who are taken advantage of by socialist educators who use their natural curiousity and zeal to participate in (paradoxically) antisocial acts that would be the envy of the Hitler-Jungend, and of course, the collegiates who fall for the deft behavioral manipulation of their Skinnerite professors.

Why is it happening? A population that shares significant points of heritage, have a common faith (even with doctrinal differences, as long as the major theme is similar), similar basic education and enjoy common freedoms and opportunities will be virtually unbreakable. Thus, if you want to ruin a nation, you must break the ties that bind. To take such a nation apart takes many years of slow preparation and infiltration, total dedication to a singular common goal (overtthrow of the target nation), and no strongly-held moral principles which might hold you back from the treachery that is required. It is the non-(public)declaration of a virtually silent and tacitly deceitful total war against a largely unsuspecting foe. Welcome to the United States of America, ca. 2011.

What does the future look like?  One thing I can envision as we get dragged down this road toward communism (considering my own long association with a military museum) is the end of museums that celebrate American liberty, courage and capitalist innovation. It stands to reason that a government that hobbles freedom would not want to leave convenient reminders around to inspire future generations. It is in fact characteristic of all regimes undergoing radical change that memorials, museums, films and books that celebrate mankind's noblest aspirations or that criticize such regimes always get purged; sometimes quietly, sometimes dramatically. Of course, free societies will generally choose to keep some history of the repression alive to remind folks where they came from, while oppressive regimes get rid of them for the opposite reason.

But before all the vestiges of our heritage dare be removed, the enemy within must continue to dismantle the pinions of our greatness as a nation: our Judeo-Christian faith, our familiarization with the best parts of our history, our work ethic, our social mores (which are intimately linked to our religious heritage), and our trust in the government and social institutions. All these things, along with principled capitalism which has been the driving engine of our prosperity as a nation, have been under attack for a very long time. But now we are at, or slightly beyond, the tipping point, from which there will be no recovery. Increasingly, we see persecutions of individuals who publicly profess their faith, display their national pride, or try to exercise their most basic rights as they are arrested and held up to public ridicule (one of the most potent radical weapons, according to Saul Alinsky).

What can we (you) do about it?  Begin by praying. That's my own religious bias, but I don't think we're going to be able to change what is happening without His help. It has taken us decades of telling God to "get out of our lives" to reach this low point, and I believe He has obliged us. We need to invite Him back.

Then, start to educate yourself on what's actually happening. Caveat: You can not depend on the mainstream news media any more. While ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, CNN, etc. may provide you with stories and some factual information, you must be on guard as to the angle the story is presented from. Opinions are swayed by how stories are written, how they are presented, what is shown (or left out), even how the talking head looks. Take their views in, but then look to alternative sources (not just FoxNews, which has become the biggest and among the best) in the 'new media' such as The BlazeNewZealWeasel ZippersMichelle Malkin and many others) and compare: is there information in one that isn't in the other? Is the story more about facts or about trying to generate an emotional response such as anger? If the latter, think about the eventual outcome if thousands or millions of people respond to that emotion. Would it lead to better or worse conditions for the individuals involved and for the country as a whole?

Next, become part of the solution. Find out what your children are being taught in school, and when appropriate, take a stand against the indoctrination that is going on. After all, it's your kid's mind they are messing with, and it's your kids who are being turned against you without your knowledge or input.

Because there is strength in numbers, you can join groups that share your beliefs. For example, the  Tea Parties held over the past couple of years have already shown what peaceful patriots can do to help bring about positive change. Although viciously maligned by the lies, slander, insults and distortions of the Leftist media, the independent groups have helped to elect a substantial number of congressional representatives who have pledged to the same values. As in any group there will be those who are disingenuous, but persistence will pay off, and many of those elected have stood tall so far. Those are the folks who need reinforcements.

The monumental problems we face today did not happen overnight; they have been planned, prepared and set in motion over nearly a century of effort by dedicated enemies of liberty and reasoned order. It won't be fixed anytime soon, and it's probably going to get a lot worse before (or if) it begins to get better. Therefore, the last thing you should do while there is still time is to prepare for those hard times, and begin today. Study anything that might be a useful skill in bad times: first aid, basic carpentry (you may not be able to rely on power tools someday), food gardening, animal husbandry, practical (not competitive) martial arts, shooting and other weapons skills, etc. Store up food supplies as you are able (even a few cans/bags/boxes at a time) - food that will not require refrigeration for storage, and will be easy to prepare. Have a supply of drinking water stored away in case your munipal system or well breaks down, and learn how to filter and purify water on your own. Determine ways to fortify your home against invaders and weather catastrophes. There are a thousand and one ways to prepare foryour family's survival (because that's what we're talking about), but the one sure way to prepare your (and your family's) non-survival is to not prepare at all. Of all the choices we are losing, that last is the one choice we really cannot afford.

  1. Only had time to skim and then watch the GPA video, but I liked the idea.
