Wish I'd said that!

In recent decades, the ACLU has used its so-called "wall" to fight tooth and nail to prevent government sponsorship of the Pledge of Allegiance, memorial crosses, Ten Commandments displays, nativity scenes, Bible displays, and virtually every other acknowdgement of America's religious heritage.

At the same time, it is worthwhile to note that there have been some instances in which the ACLU has endorsed public displays of religion. For example, When New York City Mayor Rudi Giuliani threatened to cut taxpayer funding from the Brooklyn Museum of Art for displaying a painting of the Virgin Mary with cow dung and pictures of female sexual organs pasted all over her body, the ACLU was first in line to defend the display. U.S. District Court Judge Nina Gershon ruled that New York City's elected officials were not allowed to place conditions on the museum's funding.

In another instance, the ACLU offered its support to the taxpayer-funded National Endowment for the Arts, after the agency sponsored an art show featuring "Piss Christ" - an exhibit consisting of a crucifix submerged in a jar of urine.

In the ACLU's myopic world, it appears that the only permissible publicly-funded displays of religion are those which blatantly mock or disparage the Christian faith.

The Sovietization of Amerika

Before I begin, a language disclaimer: When I use the terms socialism, progressivism, communism, nazism, or facism, understand that I am merely speaking of different faces of the same die. The major difference is a matter of degree, but all eventually end at the same destination -- a totalitarian society, where the workers are completely dominated by a privileged ruling class, the standard of living is barely beyond subsistance level for the actual producers, and there are no more guaranteed and protected freedoms; merely revocable privileges based upon your usefulness to the society, as measured by government bureaucrats.

Last Sunday, Congress passed the Obamacare bill. Ultimately it has little to do with health, and all to do with control. It is the capstone of the George Soros-backed cartel to dismantle more than 200 years of American liberty and self-determination. It wasn't an easy victory for the radical Left. They had to use every tactic Saul Alinsky and other Communist insurgents had laid out, including the obligatory and apparently baseless racism charge to gain sympathy from the typical reactionary useful idiots. We had to be untaught, over time, what America used to stand for.  We've forgotten or ignored the timely and profound warnings we've received over the years.  In the end, though, it was a corrupt Congress in which, as Rep. Alcee Hastings candidly admitted, "We just make up rules as we go along."  Time will tell if this monster Obama pushed so hard for will keep the promises he made to the American people. Meanwhile, Republicans have vowed to repeal the bill.  And they are not alone.  A recent CBS News poll reveals that 41% of Democrats want the Republicans to continue fighting the healthcare bill. But the Left will find a way to blame it on Fox News.

This government (I no longer believe it is our government) is leading us down a very rocky road toward total dependency on it, while making it more and more uncomfortable - if not illegal - to depend on ourselves. Dennis Prager has explained this in one of the most profound articles I've ever read.

With the passage of this healthcare assault on our economy, the Obama Mob now thinks it can operate with impunity, rewarding its co-conspirators and soon, attacking its critics. The war isn't over; it's merely getting more vicious and taking bigger bites out of our freedoms. I fear we have entered the new Dark Age of Communist Amerika. Immorality without restraint always accelerates its barbarity.

The United States has been under attack in some form or other since the day it was founded. While we have overcome these attacks until now, the weight of all those battle scars has taken its toll. While most of those attacks were fairly visible for all to see, the most destructive have been those happening behind the scenes, among our own people, by those taking advantage of the very laws and institutions that have allowed us to get this far as the greatest nation in history.

Among the dangers and unsettling changes we face in addition to the dismantling of the world's best (albeit imperfect) healthcare system:
- The growing threat from China, which not only owned a large percentage of our national debt, many of its citizens and soldiers are actively working against us.
- The unwillingness to defend our borders. Department of Homeland Security (an obvious misnomer)recently announced it was cancelling the "virtual fence" and all attendant funding, claiming "cost overruns and missed deadlines." May I suggest a real fence, and military units stationed along the borders to actively protect them?
- The Obama malAdministration's continuous alienation of our closest allies, including the United KingdomPoland and Israel.
- Obama's initiation of a new round of nuclear disarmament talks with Russia, even as that country experiences a return to Soviet-style militarism under Putin's direction, and even though Russia has violated virtually every treaty it has ever signed. There is even speculation that our non-nuclear cruise missiles may be a factor. As nuclear weapons spread throughout the less-stable world, weakening our greatest national "big stick" of deterrence is potential national suicide.
- The Department of Education is looking at buying 27 12-gauge tactical shotguns. Is the DoE redefining "zero tolerance" for weapons in schools? This is one of several disturbing developments that has seen the increasing paramilitarization of government agencies.
- A  National ID card is edging closer to becoming a mandatory part of citizenship (along with being forced to buy health insurance). Supporters describe it as "necessary" and yet "innocuous", but mission creep is already being intoned as making the ID mandatory for virtually all social functions.

Stand Up!  Murray Goff has put together what I would call a conservative patriotic rap music number. I hope you enjoy it.
