Wish I'd said that!

In recent decades, the ACLU has used its so-called "wall" to fight tooth and nail to prevent government sponsorship of the Pledge of Allegiance, memorial crosses, Ten Commandments displays, nativity scenes, Bible displays, and virtually every other acknowdgement of America's religious heritage.

At the same time, it is worthwhile to note that there have been some instances in which the ACLU has endorsed public displays of religion. For example, When New York City Mayor Rudi Giuliani threatened to cut taxpayer funding from the Brooklyn Museum of Art for displaying a painting of the Virgin Mary with cow dung and pictures of female sexual organs pasted all over her body, the ACLU was first in line to defend the display. U.S. District Court Judge Nina Gershon ruled that New York City's elected officials were not allowed to place conditions on the museum's funding.

In another instance, the ACLU offered its support to the taxpayer-funded National Endowment for the Arts, after the agency sponsored an art show featuring "Piss Christ" - an exhibit consisting of a crucifix submerged in a jar of urine.

In the ACLU's myopic world, it appears that the only permissible publicly-funded displays of religion are those which blatantly mock or disparage the Christian faith.

Necessary disagreement

Before I proceed, I want to call attention to an extremely important issue. According to Lord Christopher Monckton, President Obama is poised to sign a new UN Global Climate Treaty in Copenhagen this December which will cede American sovereignty over to all the petty dictatorships and in the world. It is the Marxist and anti-American dream; to take America's wealth and give it to undeserving nations (and their own elite) under the specious premise of 'reparations'. The implications are staggering, not only for the nation as a whole but for all of us as individuals. It is something which must be stopped, and there is very little time remaining to do so.

Hush! Federal Communications Commission 'diversity czar' Mark Lloyd is worrying others in the commission because some of the things he has spoken of and written about are not reassuring in regard to freedom of speech. For those who aren't aware (thanks to our un-education system and Party line media), the First Amendment was written specifically to protect political and religious speech. It wasn't designed to protect liars, perverts, demagogues, 'performance artists', or evil-minded Pied Pipers, although it does offer that protection by default. This malAdministration is doing all it can to cripple free speech and to control the press.

In a 2006 book he wrote, Lloyd wrote that he thought (warning: snooze alert) public broadcasting should be funded at or above commercial spending levels. In other words; that PBS should get more public funding than commercial stations are allowed to make from their own labor. The most despicable part of this is that he wants that funding to be extorted from the commercial stations that actually have to sell things and work for their money.

Lloyd and others of his mindset are - as implied by their own words - intent upon stifling that freedom for the very people and reasons it was designed to protect, while protecting those it wasn't; i.e., those who tout the Party line. So, I find it both comforting and troubling that FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell said Tuesday that some of Lloyd's statements about regulating freedom of speech in broadcasting worried him as well. Comforting, because someone in the bureaucracy (albeit a minority Republican) actually has the stones to speak up. Troubling, because it is even an issue in America.

Hush II. In a related item, the Obama malAdministration is going all out against its greatest foe: Fox News. Apparently the fledgling regime of New Amerika feels that freedom of the press is a greater threat than radical Islam, resurgent Russia, China calling in our debts, or even the swine flu. Team Obama is trying to isolate Fox and make it irrelevent; the amazing thing about this is that they're doing it by treating the other networks like cheap whores. However, the only way they will do that is to force it off the air, since Fox's ratings are swamping all the other news networks - combined!

Of course, while I believe most Americans have their head on straight in most things, there are millions who will believe the lies about Fox, because the Left has done a magnificent job of making Americans stupid, and most of those folks won't even check out Fox to see if the accusations are true.

This 'stupidization' process has been going on for a very long time. First the Left/progressives gained control of the teaching colleges and public schools. It stopped teaching children about their own country's accomplishments and insinuated globalism instead of nationalism, then it changed the culture by using entertainment to emasculate men and masculate women, to humanize criminals and our enemies and dehumanize our own unborn, and by de-legitimizing our constitutional rights and demonizing the capitalist system which made us the greatest nation in history; and not incidentally, has allowed us to help lift most of the rest of the world out of savagery and ignorance (excepting their own internal corruption).

Rush to judgment. There's blood in the water, and the Left is circling like sharks. Rush Limbaugh came under fierce attack last week by the ethically-challenged propagandists in what used to be known as journalism. A littany of unsubtantiated racist remarks has been passed from pundit to pundit, with the tale being embellished with every retelling. Simply because he dared to join a group of investors wanting to buy the St. Louis Rams team, Rush was accused of making remarks defending slavery and denigrating blacks, especially those in sports. It was the culmination of two decades of pissing off the Left, resulting in a Pyrrhic victory for them.

The only problem: there has been no proof. Rush has been on the radio 5 days a week for over 20 years; you'd think that someone would be able to find an audio clip of such egregious remarks. It was discovered that these spurious charges oozed from a liberal sportswriter named Bryan Burwell, who in turn was repeating nonsense from liberal author Jack Huberman, who has made a career of writing off-the-wall (i.e., unsubstantiated) books attacking conservatives.

The important thing to keep in mind is that while the Left attacks those like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage and others, they never seem to cite actual facts; their weapon of choice is the slur, the invective, the name-calling, the accusations without proof. On the other hand, most conservatives, including those I mentioned, rely heavily on proving their assertions - because their audience and their personal ethics demand it) by showing the actual writings or playing the audio and video clips of the people they talk about, and inviting the opposition to defend themselves with facts. In other words, they use actual evidence to back up their claims.

I know that's pretty much unthinkable in today's liberal/progressive media, but this is how the game of life should be played. Take Beck for example. He is painstaking in his verification of the things he presents; and some of the stuff he's discovered will - as he is fond of saying - "make your eyes bleed." Lest you think I'm being overly critical (nah), and in the interest of fairness, occasionally, some on the other side actually get something right.

Don't fence me out! Democrats are once again demonstrating their (mistaken) belief that fences don't make good neighbors. Several border-state senators killed an amendment that would have provided 700 more miles of tall fencing along our leaky southern border. Senator Jim Demint (R-SC) had proposed the amendment to a Homeland Security appropriation bill, but the opposition opted to defer the funds for "other purposes." According to DeMint, "Democrats are gutting the best tool we have to secure our borders. Virtual fencing won't solve the problem, and we need a real fence to deter the real problems of illegal immigration, terrorism, drug trafficking and human trafficking."

The liberal alternative - when they feel they must provide something - relies heavily on monitoring for intrusions rather than actually keeping people out. This is like calling 911 after a crime has been committed; the culprits have already done the damage, and the only recourse is trying to find them and hoping the court will actually prosecute them.

Sands of time. Art has long been used as an effective propaganda tool, teaching aid, and to manipulate feelings in a variety of different ways. Governments recognize this; in fact the Obama malAdministration not only "managed" the media during the campaign and afterward, it is currently pressing the 4 major networks to incorporate the theme of national service in their upcoming programming.

But it can be used in other ways, too. I'll leave you with this amazing work from a passionate and talented artist with a unique art form - sand anime - and her powerful history lesson from Ukraine. It is my hope and prayer that we in the United States never have to tell such a tale.

Remembering

It's back-to-school season; that time of year most students dread and most parents (other than home-schoolers) look forward to.

One of the things that bothers me most is the state of state-run schools. For nearly a century, public schools have been more about being incubators for progressive indoctrination and less about actual education - the goal of which should be to prepare students for their future roles in society and teaching them how to think rather than what to think. It began slowly, with early 20th century progressives seeking early on to infiltrate power positions in the teaching colleges, because when you are able to teach the teachers, you influence generations to come.

Unfortunately, the downside of higher education is there has been so much emphasis on a 4-year college education that the jobs that require such high education are being saturated, and many students are graduating to no available jobs in their field, and a mountain of college loan debt. (Of course, there is also the growing number of slackers who squander their college opportunity.) Meanwhile, fewer Americans seem willing to train for the 'blue-collar' jobs that actually make this nation function. A modern civilization might survive without 'performance artists', mid-level office wonks and poli-sci majors, but it would be a vastly less desirable place without plumbers, carpenters, masons, road workers and welders. Instead of pushing every child toward higher education, maybe we should bring back the old 'trades' courses in high school. We seem to have forgotten that there is dignity in productive work, even if it doesn't bring in a six-figure salary.

Lest we forget. September 11 is a day we should never forget, but we are being made to forget it more with each passing year. First it was when the networks stopped showing the videos "because it was too upsetting." This year President Barack Hussein Obama again insulted the American people when he declared September 11 to be "a day of national service" rather than a day of solemn remembrance. Because we are being purposely overwhelmed with malfeisance by the current malAdministration, we have taken our eyes off the ball, the real and present danger that confronts us: radical Islam. There is no doubt that they haven't forgotten about us, nor what they intend to do to us. Regardless of your political philosophy (if you even have one) this battle is ultimately one of either our survival or our death or domination by people who have no consideration for your rights or your life.

The producers of a new film, The Third Jihad, is offering a free online showing of the complete documentary. If you don't have time to watch it, make time. You won't be too busy if you're dead, and if you think Obama wants to take your freedoms, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Profiting from misery? You might think that anyone who profits off the misery of others must be a real dirtbag, right? But when you think about it rationally, it is the prospect of profit that has brought about many of the greatest boons to mankind, especially in the field of healthcare and medicine. This is a fact that socialist types are too willing to ignore. As so clearly pointed out by reporter John Stossel in his recent ABC report about the healthcare controversy, it is the prospect of making money that spurs companies and entrepreneurs to invest the capital into developing medicines, medical procedures and devices that save more lives than has ever been possible previously. An important point he makes is that government-provided healthcare isn't very healthy at all.

Incidentally, Stossel is coming to Fox Business Network and Fox News channel in the fall. He's finally getting the opportunity to work for a network that truly appreciates his work and talent for sniffing out the truth about things taken for granted, rather than being merely tolerated and often ignored. One more reason to get cable.

Pranks for the memories. There is an old saying that goes something like this: "You can tell a man's power by his enemies." It's become pretty obvious that Glenn Beck has a lot of power, and well he should; because of his near-manic quest to preserve America and expose those who are trying to usurp the power of the people, he's become the hardest-working, least egotistic, most self-sacrificing commentator in media today. Not surprisingly, he's picked up a LOT of enemies; some just want to shut him up, others do all they can to disrupt him, and some reportedly want to harm him and his family. One viewer found that an employee of her local cable company had pranked Beck's cable listing. Fortunately, the viewer had the presence of mind to video the screens and to contact the FCC with a complaint. Great minds work overtime at great things, but apparently, small minds settle for a lot less. I wonder where the guy will be working when they catch him.

Adding insult to indebtedness. As another example of his deep love for this nation and his respect for the office, President Obama has graciously offered to fly the Chinese flag on the White House lawn on September 20, Red China's anniversary. William Gheen of Americans for Legal Immigration summed up the feeling of many Americans: "Our concern is that sovereign wealth funds, like the Chinese, now control the executive branch more than the American people," he said. "China is not our friend. China is our enemy. Our enemy is coming and raising their own flag in a type of proclamation. [emphasis added] Perhaps next, the Chinese will set up an office in the White House, since they now more or less hold the mortgage.

Not exactly 'Fairness.' Domestic terrorists from the Earth Liberation Front (ELF) pulled down two AM radio towers of a sports radio station in Washington State. While ELF claims that AM radio waves are harmful, yada, yada, it's just another attempt by this band of cretins to destroy any semblance of civilization. Another group has been blowing up sections of a Canadian gas pipeline since last October.

If all these environuts got their way, civilization would be driven back to the stage of fighting over caves to live in, pooping on the ground, and grazing on nuts, berries, and grass. I'm all in favor of conservation and ecology-friendly technology, but honestly, if these people have such a hatred of their own species, I can't imagine why they don't all just commit suicide and leave the rest of us alone.
