Wish I'd said that!

In recent decades, the ACLU has used its so-called "wall" to fight tooth and nail to prevent government sponsorship of the Pledge of Allegiance, memorial crosses, Ten Commandments displays, nativity scenes, Bible displays, and virtually every other acknowdgement of America's religious heritage.

At the same time, it is worthwhile to note that there have been some instances in which the ACLU has endorsed public displays of religion. For example, When New York City Mayor Rudi Giuliani threatened to cut taxpayer funding from the Brooklyn Museum of Art for displaying a painting of the Virgin Mary with cow dung and pictures of female sexual organs pasted all over her body, the ACLU was first in line to defend the display. U.S. District Court Judge Nina Gershon ruled that New York City's elected officials were not allowed to place conditions on the museum's funding.

In another instance, the ACLU offered its support to the taxpayer-funded National Endowment for the Arts, after the agency sponsored an art show featuring "Piss Christ" - an exhibit consisting of a crucifix submerged in a jar of urine.

In the ACLU's myopic world, it appears that the only permissible publicly-funded displays of religion are those which blatantly mock or disparage the Christian faith.

If I couldn't laugh, I'd cry

FLASH > breaking news: If you've been one of those folks who have belittled the "birthers" who claim Obama isn't a natural-born citizen of the United States, and therefore ineligible for the office of President, a clip has been discovered that has him telling a group of students (apparently in a Muslim country) -with his own lips - that he was born in Kenya.  Does it really matter? Probably not, because no one in the government is going to bring the charge against him, and the current rubber-stamp Congress isn't going to pursue impeachment, because they're all complicit with him. Hopefully, actual Americans who believe in our country will someday write the true history of this time, as a warning to the future.

"To the moon"...or not.  It has become apparent to anyone with any degree of discernment and rationality that while the Obama malAdministration has chosen to ben over backwards for all things Muslim, there is seemingly no room in it for committed Christians (although a conscientious Christian would have a difficult time serving such an ungodly master). Another hallmark is Obama's penchant for choosing the most spectacularly unqualified individuals for important posts well outside their area of "expertise". A signet of both of of these quirks is the appointment of NASA malAdministrator Charles Bolden, who recently went on record in Cairo with al Jazeera to speak about improving NASA's image in the Muslim world.

OK, stop laughing; it's true. According to Bolden, the president's desire was to "reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science ... and math and engineering."  Now, I understand that some mathematics were developed in Muslim countries, but I think their last substantive contribution was the numerals we use. And virtually all the science they know and use against us comes courtesy of Western science and technology (albeit with an occasional detour through Russia - they did invent the AK47).

So this president's directive for our future progress is to kill all space program initiatives, including the follow-on to the Space Shuttle (which will make us entirely dependent on the Russians), the return-to-the-moon program and the Mars program. Yes, this malAdministration's role in keeping the US at the forefront of technology will now rest on  the premise that America "not going to travel beyond low-Earth orbit on its own and that no country is going to make it to Mars without international help.

Seriously, if America survives this presidential nightmare, we have to look at ways to prevent our government from being undermined by overt fools and usurped by covert enemies. And we must find a way to restore a corps of journalists that only owes allegiance to integrity rather than political party.

Did you know?  Life has gone on at a fairly lackadaisical pace across the Earth for thousands of years. Progress was slow.  Example; for as long as people have been living on the planet, we've only been able to see more than a few yards at night until about a hundred and thirty years or so ago.  Then came gaslight (and reflectors) and then electric light, and mankind has been on a roller-coaster ride of progress ever since. But in less than a decade, the speed of that ride has increased exponentially. Sometimes you just have to see things in the right perspective to get a whole new vision of reality.

But it isn't only in science that we've been caught up in a relative whirlwind.  Let's take political reality, for example.  For most of history the only folks who really knew the taste of freedom were those at the top of the social order (except for brief exercises in ancient Athens, the early Roman Republic, and ancient Israel.  For most of the past two hundred thirty-odd years we've taken our rights for granted.

Take freedom of the press. Newspapers have been the public record-keepers in America; while there has always been political bias they generally made great effort to document what happens in the society, and if they made a mistake, the more responsible of them (the modern New York Times, Washington Post, et al not withstanding) would publish a correction or a retraction. However, we now live in an age where when it comes to certain news, courts are ordering newspapers to purge their stories.  While judges may make the excuse that they are "protecting the innocent", there is great danger that important events and trends are or will be made to 'disappear'.  And that is how history is changed.

Of course, when it's your own name that gets dragged unfairly and publicly through the mud it's only natural to want to make the stories "disappear". However, wouldn't it be better to settle for (and insist upon) the aforementioned correction of the public record, rather than risk the possibility that American news organizations would go the way of the former (and future?) Soviet Union's newspapers/propaganda organs, which were reknowned by the Western intelligence agencies for changing history by purging stories and even doctoring photos to remove politically-incorrect persons and events from the public's knowledge? Unfortunatetly, this sort of censorship is not a lost art, as exemplified by the downplay and virtual absence of photos and positive press in the media (except for Fox News) of more than a million Tea Party members peacefully marching at the 9/12 rally in Washington DC last year, and the unholy counterpart of also hiding the faults of a corrupt government.

Animal Farm.  My previous rant touched on the resurgence of racism in America, albeit now coming mostly from the Black community. Lo and behold, more evidence has arisen in the personage of one King Samir Shabazz, a 'minister' in the New Black Panther Party, proudly caught on video loudly and publically advocating the killing of white people, including babies. It turns out that Mr. Shabazz is also one of the men caught intimidating voters outside a polling station during the last election.  As could be expected, the head of the Panthers did the usual two-step, defending the DoJs dismissal of the charges.

Speaking of which; it has been revealed (in legalese: "alleged") that the US Department of Justice now has a de facto policy under Eric Holder to not prosecute Blacks involved in hate-crimes against whites. This, naturally, negates the very concept of justice, and was such an affront to the Department that one experienced DoJ Attorney quit in disgust.

Human behavior is as depraved as it ever was, absent the self-restraining influence of Christianity and some other faiths. Time and again, experience proves this fact that - no matter the nobility of our intentions - we always eventually devolve in our treatment of one another. As the line from George Orwell's classic Animal Farm so succinctly puts it, "All animals are equal; but some animals are more equal than others."

Silence is a message

North Korea's pint-sized madman Kim Jong Il made another stab at waving his 'flag' in the faces of the United States, South Korea and Japan, by launching 7 more missiles into the sea as we celebrated the 4th of July. No one seems surprised anymore that the Obama White House answered this provocation with -- silence. The party line is that Obama didn't want to "give attention" to North Korea, and wanted to "avoid antagonizing it."

I'm sorry, but the whole world is aware of NoKo's repeated insults to the international community, so the pudgy, geriatric spike-hair's already getting plenty of attention for his otherwise impoverished nation. And if the US doesn't want to antagonize an aging punk who seems determined to develop a real capability to launch missiles with nuclear warheads at us, then we've stepped through a wormhole. The United States that saved the world (temporarily, it seems) from global dictatorship 64 years ago would have stomped this guy long ago; we would have done to their launch facilities and weapons labs what the Israelis did to Iraq's Osirak reactor in 1981.

But our current fearful leader prefers not to rankle the international lunatic fringe, even as he cajoles, gives passing support, and hangs out with some of the world's current pocket dictators. Obama's official silence tells the world more than any doublespeak he might utter. It tells us he really doesn't have a serious objection to the potential threat Kim Jong Il poses to America (especially Hawaii and the Left Coast) and its democratic Asian neighbors. It reminds me of an old axiom that goes something like this: show me your friends and I'll show you your future. The problem is, he's dragging us all where he's headed, and it doesn't look like a happy place.

Buyer's remorse? Is it possible that more people are waking up? During a contentious White House press briefing between CBS correspondent Chip Reid and WH press secretary Robert 'Glib' Gibbs, the irrepressible and totally unattractive Helen Thomas interjected on the attempt to manipulate the press and the utter lack of transparency of the ObamaNation. I think this is the first time I've ever agreed with Helen Thomas; an insight that terrifies me and leaves me with a foul taste in my mouth.

In a similar vein, the politically ambigious former General Colin Powell is beginning to question Obama's policies, expressing concern over the president's gross plans to expand government and federal debt. Obama's policies, generally in line with his campaign promises, didn't seem to ring any bells for Powell prior to the election, when the renegade RINO endorsed the Great Black Hope. His shortsightedness doesn't seem to be in line with what we've come to expect from West Pointers.

Burning the flag...the right way. Glenn Beck held a very special affair in his yard recently. Glenn is an avid flag collector and patriot, and when his old flag became too weathered and worn, he decided to retire the colors in the proper way. How else, then, than to invite a special detail from the Stanford, CT Police Dept., which travels the state to conduct this special ceremony. In addition to causing numerous passersby to stop, stare and render due respect, it also pissed off many of his liberal neighbors, which you might call a bonus feature.

As I said, Beck is a modern patriot; passionate, determined, and willing to risk what he has for the cause he believes in. So were the men who started it all 233 years ago, men who truly risked everything they had for the cause they believed in; an idea that had never truly been tried before, an idea that changed the world for the better. It's tragic that so many Americans no longer understand what they did or why, and are so willing to trade away the liberty that was so hard-won for the pitiful promises of selfish and vain politicians.

Fairness for all, except... When it comes to 'hate crimes', Attorney General Eric Holder's attitude is apparently that anyone can be a victim of hate-crime, except for whites and Christian ministers. If anyone thought that a black president would usher in a new era of respect, it ain't quite working out that way. If anything, His Imperiousness seems to harken back to an earlier era -- the Roman Empire in its declining years.

Whose idea was this?... If there's one thing you don't want to do, it's to try and impress hundreds of people with a stunt you haven't really mastered. I can't imagine this guy being dumb enough to volunteer for a do-over.

Gag reflex check. If you haven't been suitably grossed out in a while, try the YouTube clip of an unknown life form in a North Carolina sewer. Looks like a typical 4" branch line, such as the one probably leading from your house to the main, or into a septic tank. If anyone has a good explanation, I'd be interested to hear it. Otherwise, let's hope this isn't the actualization of The Blob.

A Nation on Life Support

If you read no further, read this and understand: What you don't know can hurt you. And that is the purpose of this pathetic little blog, to fill in a few of the knowledge gaps, and make you more aware, and more prepared for what lies ahead.

OK, you're still reading, so buckle up. Yeah, I know; more bad news. It sucks to be us. But if we don't take our collective heads out of our nether regions, the America we wake up to one day soon may become an Amerika more akin to the Soviet Union, with all the waste, persecution, suspicion and poverty that image conjures up. Fortunately, some people are beginning to stand up and speak out eloquently on the danger we are in and what our response should be. Unfortunately, most Americans are still living in a dream constructed by master craftsmen in the art of distraction, dissembling and disinformation. It could be chalked up to mere schizoid paranoia if there weren't so much damn evidence staring us in the face.

Our present leadership is taking us on a crash course in "How to Kill a Great Nation". If you're one of those trying with all your might to ignore the obvious, allow me to burst your bubble. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi spoke to a group of illegals in a church in California recently (which tells you where she stands on "separation of Church and State"), clamoring for the suspension of ICE raids on illegal workplaces and calling them "patriotic." Oh really... patriotic to which country, Nancy? And whose side are you on?

Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), chairman of the Senate Banking Committee that pushed for and oversaw the AIG deal, coincidentally received the biggest campaign contribution from AIG. Barack Obama received the second largest contribution. During interviews covering only a couple of days, Dodd first claimed he didn't know about the sweet bonus deal, then admitted that they had placed a measure in the stimulus bill to restrict the bonuses but were asked to remove it (and did). Yet he, Barney Frank and the rest of the Up-on-the-Hill Mob have the cojones to then use congressional extortion to get the bonuses back, threatening a 70% tax on those who received the money.

As bad as they might look, those bonuses were part of a contract between AIG and the employees. It goes against the Constitution for congress to violate, or cause to violate, a contract in such a way (see Bill of Attainder, Article I, section 9 ). Does it suck that they made the deal? Yes. But is it proper for the government to stoop to mob tactics to extricate themselves from a problem of their own making? Certainly not. In case you're wondering, that's what totalitarian governments do. Hmmm...come to think of it...

My question is, where are the Supreme Court Justices on this issue? They are supposed to be the protectors and interpreters of the Constitution, but the tendency is to look the other way on such matters. Look at it this way: the Senate - the supposed "thoughtful body" of congress as instituted by the Founders - has just decided that it can selectively go after individuals, using the IRS as a weapon of extortion. If they can go after individual AIG employees, who will they go after next; you, someday?

Speaking of justice, Attorney General Eric Holder thinks that a good way to protect the American people from terrorism is to release Gitmo terrorists inside the United States. Makes me feel safer already. Also, the state government of Missouri has published a Strategic Report on "The Modern Militia Movement," which in part outlines what state officials should look for as indicators of possible domestic terrorists. Ostensibly, it's a profile for potential terrorists, and includes intriguing tips for spotting these 'enemies of the state'. Among things to look for are being a supporter of Ron Paul and displaying bumper stickers that contain "anti-government rhetoric." I suppose that would include such rubrics as "Don't steal; the government hates competition."

When all the little pieces of the puzzle are seen together, they point to an ominous conclusion: our way of life has never been in greater jeopardy, and the people's righteous rancor against an increasingly oppressive and unresponsive government hasn't been this high since our forefathers took up shooting at lines of men in red jackets.

A lot of lather was worked up over Obama's careless remark on the Tonight Show, in which he supposedly dissed the Special Olympics. My opinion on this is that there is too much made of too little here. Everyone makes stupid and unthinking remarks from time to time (just keep reading me), and Obama makes more than his share when he goes off-prompter. In this instance, let's worry about the real mistakes he's making, and not dwell on subjective minutiae. But just for comparison, check out what Sarah Palin had to say about Special Olympics.

Now for some actual fun: the Media Research Center's 2009 Gala Dishonors Awards. See; those radical Right-wing conspiracists do have a sense of humor! Unfortunately, the video compilation of Jay Leno's man-on-the-street interviews is a real downer, as it shows the absolutely pathetic state of American education and the utter vacuuousness of a great proportion of American youth. (But I'd bet they can text "UR so kul 2" without even taking their eyes off the road!)

And so I can say it's not all doom and gloom, let me invite you to see what it's like to fly with the Blue Angels. Enjoy!

Slap!

Americans are getting b--ch-slapped like nobody's business by the new malAdministration. Our downward spin out of control continues to gain speed as public school-educated, morally vacuous America yields itself to becoming the new Union of Soviet Amerika (with all the misery that vision engenders), and Barack Obama transforms himself into the new incarnation of a softer, gentler (so far) version of Josef Stalin. He is a walking ego, continually trying to insinuate himself and his party into control of the everyday life of each one of us. And it is becoming increasingly obvious he has little respect for the citizens who actually care about and support the country.

Slap #1: On Thursday, the president decided to spit on the grave of every American soldier who has sacrificed their lives for this country. He did this in part by changing the rule prohibiting media coverage of American coffins returning from war zones. (he did make the consession that permission of the family would be necessary, but how long will it be before some photo of many caskets 'accidentally' gets released to the public?) Ostensibly, he did this "to show the true cost of war." But in practical terms, what it does -- in addition to adding to the grief of mourning families -- is to provide our enemies with a great propaganda tool to rally their own troops against us. And while his 'stimulus' bill fattens up thousands of non-essential programs, it also shortchanges the Defense Department, cutting money for protecting the troops and shoring up our defenses against our soon-to-be-nuclear-equipped enemies, Iran and North Korea.

Actually, he delivered a double-slap to the troops, although those he talked to on Friday applauded when Obama told them we would be entirely out of Iraq in 18 months, except for 50,000 or so troops (of course the troops in the audience applauded; do you think they want to go into a combat zone?). Wow, this guy is a master at Orwellian doublespeak. Still, I'm sure those Al Qaeda operatives still alive were happy to have this potential timetable to plan their future assaults in the region. Perhaps they'll lay low and just nip at our heels as we withdraw, as the North Vietnamese troops did when we abandoned the South Vietnamese (another gleaming political expedient that spat on the troops who gave so much).

Slap #2: Attorney General Eric ("Nation of cowards") Holder announced a new government assault on "assault weapons" (which are mainly semi-automatic versions of military rifles), using the cover story that the move to close loopholes on the legal purchase of those firearms will help "reduce the number of guns reaching Mexico's brutal drug cartels." Uh, heads up, Eric; criminals don't worry about getting guns through legal means. Of course, it has nothing to do with the fact that legal gun sales have been soaring since Obama's inauguration. Seriously, that theory is only a straw man for the clampdown on our Second Amendment RIGHT to keep and bear arms. On his Fox News 5pm show on Thursday, Glenn Beck spoke of his recent visit to his local gunshop, experiencing 3-deep waiting lines at the counter as fearful citizens raced to get their guns before an outright ban. Some sources, from leading experts to the federal government, are predicting possible rioting and violence this summer as job loss numbers continue to climb into the stratosphere. Bullet point: It's better to have and not need, than to need and not have.

Slap #3: Obama's pick to head the National Intelligence Council, Charles Freeman, has financial ties to the bin Laden family, and once upon a time collaborated on a school textbook that spews all sorts of pro-Islamic mythology, including falsely claiming that Muslims inhabited pre-Columbian America. He is also a supporter of Hamas and critical of Israel. Nuclear-armed Israelis must be feeling increasingly uncomfortable with the United States' new attitude toward the Middle East. But I forget, Barack Hussein Obama claimed during the campaign that he is a Christian, although we have yet to see any indication of that faith.

Slap #4: The Democrats' President is preparing to cut the cord of freedom of conscience for thousands of medical practicioners who are opposed to abortion, by reversing a Bush administration rule protecting such honorable doctors and nurses from retribution or termination for refusing to perform or participate in the gruesome procedures. This is likely to be only the opening shot in an all-out assault on the preborn.

This mindless and conscienceless drive to expand the ongoing fetal holocaust aptly demonstrates the shortsighted thinking of Obama and his like-minded sychophants. At the same time he destroys the economy by sinking us into debt we can never repay (although our children and grandchildren will get the bill), he wants to continue to kill off more millions of potential taxpayers. Since he's supposed to be so brilliant, I can't honestly call this a stupid decision; I can call it an outright evil decision.

As I inferred in my opening, I believe we are headed toward the deplorable condition of a not-so-benevolent dictatorship. At the least, we will not be an America recognizable to those who have passed on before us; and certainly our Founding Fathers would be turning in their graves at their wasted sacrifice. They gave us the world, freedom and hope; and we seem intent on throwing it all in the gutter of history (which continues to be rewritten even now).

For those who remember what the Soviet Union was like, members of the Politburo received special treatment, including the privilege of driving in a special lane just for them, and being able to shop at an exclusive mall open only to senior Communist Party members. Meanwhile, the general populace - the 'common' folk who actually did all the work, supporting and fighting for the regime, and paying the taxes - had to squabble over insufficient supplies of food, fuel and what cynically passed as toilet paper, to name a few things we take for granted today. And, oh, yeah; the secret police were watching everyone, all the time, and people were generally afraid (with good reason) to speak their mind in opposition to the regime. But of course, it can't happen here, right?

Actually, you could almost make the argument for socialism (NOT!), if it weren't for that pesky thing called human nature. You see, Liberals/Socialists are liars and hypocrites. Of course, virtually everyone is one or the other at least occassionally, but those who think they are better than us never live by the rules they impose on us (this also applies to Republicans who drink from the same well). Liberals attain power positions by claiming to work for the "little guy," but in fact they never give the "little guy" the tools and opportunity to escape their poverty; they only give them just enough to keep them docile and (more importantly) to keep voting for them. Liberalism encouraged the destruction of the traditional family in this nation, mostly in the cities and especially among black communities by the promotion of easy divorce, easy abortions and the welfare state which discouraged fathers from working and financially penalized intact families.

When was the last time you heard of a liberal politician (or the other liberal elites in Hollywood and elsewhere) live the same way they try to force the rest of us to live? Are Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and the rest willing to settle for the same rationed medical care they want to provide for us; having some anonymous bureaucrat make potentially life-and-death decisions instead of your doctor? Didn't think so.

Modern liberalism is about social and political control. It's as much about a class-based society as is conservatism. The important difference is that conservatism allows and even encourages those at the bottom to rise, while liberalism throws all sorts of barriers in the way of success. If you're thinking that a government-financed college education is your ticket to success, let me remind you that the more you earn, the closer you get to joining that despicable "rich" class, and the more government will try to soak you.

Obama is the epitome of the liberal/socialist mindset. During his brief tenure as a senator he did more campaigning than representing, and was absent or abstained from most votes; this way he could promise anything and never be held to account. He has reneged on virtually every campaign promise by masterfully parsing his words so that they have ambiguous meanings. Now he continually undercuts our national success, raising the hopes of the poor to maintain the cycle of promise-vote-promise.

As this malAdministration continues to destroy the economy, attack the people who actually produce the jobs that produce the essentials and luxuries we enjoy, impugn the most productive and charitable citizens (conservatives and traditionalists), and weaken our rights, we are going to look more and more like that bleak and dreary empire we mistakenly thought we had defeated without firing a shot. Foolish us. You can smirk if you want (because you either don't know history or are one of them), but the Commies didn't go away; they simply blended into our own society and attacked us from within. May God forgive us for our stupidity and arrogance.

OK; next time I'll try to be bright and cheerful.

A New Ethic, A New Assault

As the pundits are prone to say these days, "the bloom is off the rose" already, insofar as the Obama maladministration is concerned. His Cabinet appointees and candidates have become a veritable rogues' gallery, and his underhanded assaults on the American way of life and liberties is becoming the stuff of billboards as his hidden agenda comes to light.

You already know about Tim Geithner, the tax cheat who now heads the IRS and may control the U.S. Census, which would be another gateway to cementing Democrat control of elections and payouts. Geithner - Obama's "indispensible" wonder-boy who was going to solve our financial problems - came out on Tuesday and gave what amounted to an "I haven't got a clue" speech which sent the market into the septic tank.

While we're talking about failures, Geithner has company in the person of former senator and failed Air America talk-show host Tom Daschle, who failed once again; this time to become head of Health and Human Services (i.e., boss of our public medical system). Ironically it was his own tax problems that killed his chance at sitting at the Cabinet table. Still, much of his plan to radically alter (i.e., socialize) our health system was snuck into the stimulus bill, where it can do untold damage to what was once the finest healthcare system in the world. This plan might almost be made palatable if only it would be strictly applied to everyone, including the political elites. I mean, would Daschle, Reid or Pelosi be willing to forego medical care when they becomes more infirm as they get older, and just "be more accepting of conditions that come with age," as his plan asks of us? Yeah, I didn't think so either. Hypocrisy is the hallmark of socialism.

While we're on the subject, the Obama stimulus bill passed both houses of Congress as expected, despite numerous respected critics. Wisely, the Republicans (except for 3 Senate RINOs - Spectre, Snow and Collins) refused to put their stamp of approval on it; if only the party had rediscovered their principles before the election.

The $3 trillion-plus, 1,073-page stimulus (or porkulus, as it has become known among pundits and other clear-thinkers) - the bill designed to reward unions, buy votes, and undermine our freedoms - was presented in the dead of night and pushed to a vote (violating an agreement to allow 48 hours to study it), all so Queen Nancy (Pelosi) could hop a gas-guzzling, ozone-killing megajet to Europe to receive an award from like-minded socialists. Obviously, her own vanity is more important than the welfare of the country. Speaking of welfare, included in the bill are provisions that returns us to the welfare state that destroyed so many millions of families and sapped the lifeblood out of the nation.

In a particularly disturbing development, Florida Democrat Rep. Alcee Hastings has introduced a bill to construct "no fewer than six national emergency centers" on military installations within the U.S. The bill, H.R.645, while ostensibly worded "to provide temporary housing, medical and humanitarian assistance" in national emergencies, contains this ominous catch-all at the end of Section 2: "(4) to meet other appropriate needs, as determined by the Secretary of Homeland Security." Such vagueness can cover a multitude of possibilities, especially in the hands of those with more love for power than responsibility.

I'm guessing that similar wording may have been used to establish certain large camps in 1940s Germany and its conquered territories. Such Manzinar (or Treblinka)-invoking facilities might prove to be suitable places to isolate political prisoners. Hey, if you want sunshine, read the liberal blogs (Oh, wait, they only see doom and gloom caused by conservatives. Never mind).

Incidentally, our government isn't the only problem we face. We must not forget that radical Islamists still want our blood. Did you know that there are 35 Muslim terrorist training camps presently operating within the U.S., and that the government cannot legally stop them?

If you think there's a lot of doom-and-gloom, you're right. While America has had plenty of trials over the past couple of centuries, we've never been this close to losing the entire American dream. There are forces at work and in power determined to undermine the principles and laws that made this the greatest nation in history. People laugh when I get on a rant about America becoming a communist country; but we are headed down that road at near-full throttle.

Sadly, I believe our biggest problem is that most Americans today don't understand what the hullabaloo is all about. They haven't been taught the difference between American capitalism and communism. In a word, the difference is - FREEDOM. Socialism - and its cruel bigger brother communism - are at their essence a religion (that's right, a religion) in which the State takes the place of God.

In contrast America, which was founded upon Christian, biblical principles, says that God gave His people the right to live our lives with liberty (i.e., freedom to pursue life as you wish, as long as you don't violate the rights of others and give God the honor He is due). He requires that you maintain self-control to accomplish your desires, and provides temporal and eternal rewards and punishments. The socialist State seeks to control every facet of every life, including the ability to control who actually gets to live, and how much or how little freedom you are allowed. It provides sustenance to those it approves of, and punishes or excludes those who don't fit in. What God promises, He delivers. What government gives, it can take away on a whim. Oh, and there's one more difference. God never lies.

If you understand what we're on the verge of losing, and want to participate in getting it back (have no illusion, it won't be easy at this point), check out Glenn Beck's latest effort to save the nation; "We Surround Them". While all the conservative commentators are doing tremendous work to inform us to what's going on under cover of intellectual darkness, in my estimation Beck is the most passionate and most principled of all. Listen to his weekday radio show, watch his smash hit Fox News program at 5 pm weekdays, with a summary on Saturdays at 9 pm. Get informed, with a 'liberal' dose of humor.

Our nation and our way of life depends on us getting involved. Otherwise, in the words of Samuel Adams: "If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."
