Mincing words

President Obama (I hate using those two words together) recently reminded us how totally foreign he is to the historicity, traditions and foundational values of this nation. Speaking before the Hispanic Caucus, he recited (no doubt, teleprompted) a key portion of the Declaration of Independence, but he just couldn't bring himself to say the two essential words, "their Creator".  It was a magic moment, watching his long, uncomforable pause and near-grimace as he obviously mulled whether to recite the phrase from one of our two most important founding documents, and then literally refused - like a stubborn child - to say the words that give honor to a higher Power. Yes, Barack, there certainly is a higher power than you. And perhaps you should consider not getting so high that you forget that little fact.

But let me give him the benefit of doubt. Perhaps it really is just his Marxist upbrining that prevented him from mouthing those four syllables. After all, he was raised by a family that probably never used (at least not in the same context as most of us) "honor," "patriotism," "righteousness" "heritage" and other words that were ingrained in generations of Americans within their family, through their church, and yes - way back then (the 1950s and before) - even in public school. His environment growing up, especially at Harvard, was filled with the terminology of Marxist revolution, of socialism's impractical ideals, of Islam's merciless demand for perfect obedience and total disregard for the lives and property of "infidels."  Realizing that personal history, it becomes easier to understand his seemingly latent hatred and abject disregard for the well-being of United States, its citizens, our economy and our national security.  He's just misunderstood by most of us.  We should all tolerate and support him and his grand vision for Amerika.

Nah, just kidding. Just because he grew up in a broken home with broken ideals, was thrust into a religion of virulent hatred and violence, and spent nearly his entire life surrounded by marxists doesn't excuse his Macchiavellian scheming to undermine and destroy this nation's independence, stability and safety (any more than it excuses Woodrow Wilson, FDR, Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, the George Bushes or any others who have contributed to our downward slide).  We are all held to account for our actions.

The truth, the Truth and common sense have been out there all along, but some people simply either discount it or ignore it. Many others seem to find it, and relish it as the firm foundation for their lives. Most of us will recognize a point in our life where we have to make a decision that will affect the rest of that life (and the lives around us in one way or another). I am one of those who believes in God and His perfect justice, and trusts in His Son.  After decades of foolishness and self-destructive behavior, He finally woke me up. I came to recognize that I'm a sinner (and so are you), and that I can never get out of my own way without His Grace, Mercy, and Forgiveness. And because of the road I was on and the world I see around me, I have to believe there is a special, lower region of Hell reserved for those who intentionally do the greatest harm to the greatest number of people.  Jeez, I hate how many times I just used that most personal pronoun. Don't you?

Anyway, I do hope and pray that Obama and his band of bothers will see the light and begin to undo their damage - hopefully before the lights go out for all of us.  It would save so many people from so much grief and suffering.

Is that a tingle up my leg? One person who definitely doesn't mince words is NJ Governor Chris Christie, the fast-rising superstar of the American Right.  Blending equal parts honesty, bluntness and just plain common sense, Christie has become a galvanizing figure for Americans who are sick and tired of dishonest, disingenuous doublespeak from our leaders. I don't know if he's planning an extended trip to the White House anytime soon, but there are a lot of us (and his fan base is growing rapidly) who would like to see him sitting behind the Resolute desk - with his feet firmly on the floor. I believe he would do it honor; our friends would be relieved, and our enemies would tremble.

Johnny get your gun!?  As I peruse Facebook, a common theme for many self-professed conservative participants is the not-so-veiled threat of armed "counter-revolution." For every perceived egregious government action, they are ready to pick up a gun and...what?  Start shooting? At whom? To what end?

The problem is, I believe that's exactly the reaction some in the government - the "Never let a good crisis go to waste" types - want.  As well-meaning (and perhaps eventually necessary) as it might seem at the time, it would be their perfect excuse to pull out all the stops; martial law, complete silence on the internet, restriction of food and energy supplies, travel restrictions ("Your papers, please"...without the "please"), mass detentions and show trials.

All you have to do is to study the history of the early Soviet Union to see where we're headed if we stay on this course. That's not a place I want to go, nor see my family go, because when we are toppled there will be no one to come to our rescue. "Revolutionaries" will be picked up and picked off, never to be heard from again. The technology isn't nearly as primitive as it was a century ago; we live in the perfect environment for a total police state.

Don't be one of those folks who deludes themselves into thinking we can win that war; our military (increasingly, the police state's military) has been studying how to combat insurgents since we fought the Moros in the Phillipines. It's only a matter of the lack of political will and secret agendas that has prevented us from winning every conflict since then. When the 'loyal opposition' finds itself in an internment camp, the 'political will' will be very reminiscent of the Soviet purges. Look to the holodomor as a worst-case scenario; Stalin's deliberate starvation to death of millions of Ukrainians during the 1920s.

You don't think today's leaders have the psychological capacity to be that cruel? Remember when Glenn Beck played an old video interview with an FBI agent who infiltrated the Weathermen in the early 70s heard them clearly express their willingness to kill 25 million of their fellow Americans who might be resistant to 'reeducation'?  Think it can't happen here?  Many of the Weathermen, SDS and other revolutionaries of that time are now walking the halls of the White House and manning many of its "czarocracies".  This potential is nothing new.  Keep in mind that the Germans were among the most advanced nations during Hitler's rise to power. With the proper amount of psychological conditioning, reeducating and "nudging," it is amazing what you can get people to do, or to ignore.  Outside of a relatively benign social environment, human behavior hasn't shown any significant improvement since Cain had that little disagreement with his brother Abel.

Parting the waters.  I have to admit, while I believe strongly in the Bible, in God, and in Jesus Christ, my faith is not blind. I base it on corraborated testimony, logic, common sense, and evidence.  In particular, while my faith doesn't entirely depend on evidence, I joy to see it, however circumstantial.

New findings such as the scientific feasibility of the Red Sea parting are exciting and gratifying.  I've heard this theory before, but this is the first time I've seen it given any scientific credence. While such evidence is purely speculative ( and their are dissenting views) due to the extreme passage of time and the inability to detect or discover any other factors not anticipated by modern researchers, it is still an intriguing prospect. And after all is said and done, wouldn't God - the Creator of all matter and energy - be able to manipulate His creation (such as light, radiation, gravity, weather, etc.) to produce the effects He wants?

Always leave 'em laughing.  Have you ever - for whatever reason (and sometimes it isn't even apparent to you) - started laughing uncontrollably?  I've done it a few times, to the point it brought literal tears of joy to my eyes. The outgoing Swiss finance minister found himself in just such a moment recently, while he was giving an otherwise-boring political response to a parliamentary question about cured meat imports. While his laughing jag may not be the stuff of political legend, he certainly has become a YouTube viral hit. Even though his raucous outbursts are somewhat sublime by our standards, it's a great lesson; we all need to break it up now and then. It's good for the soul, it's good medicine for the body, and it's a great reminder not to take ourselves too seriously all the time.

Technicalities

It really sucks when all your enemies are smart enough to use your own laws against you.  That fact really hits home when a 13-story Muslim cultural center and mosque prepares to open within spittin' distance of the hole in the ground formerly known as the World Trade Center.  A little legal technicality is preventing the Community Board from revoking its ill-considered decision to allow the construction.  According to American Society for Muslim Advancement's executive director Daisy Khan, "For us, it's a symbol, a platform that will give voice to the silent majority of Muslims who suffer at the hands of extremists. A center will show that Muslims will be part of rebuilding lower Manhattan."

"Rebuilding lower Manhattan."  That sounds so nice, doesn't it?  Does she mean, the same way Muslims have "rebuilt" urban Detroit, and London, and Paris, and other Western cities, complete with minarets sounding prayer five times a day over loudspeakers? After all, it is the Society for Muslim Advancement, right?  I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if so many Muslims hadn't sworn to conquer, enslave or kill all non-Muslims.

I might almost be able to swallow their altruistic PR gimmick if they didn't plan to open the facility on  September 11, 2011, ten years to the day after two hijacked planes dropped the twin towers, along with more than two thousand people.  I don't know about you, but to me it kinda has the feel of someone sticking their thumbnail in  my eye. for me, it isn't about hatred of people different than I am; it's about self-preservation, and the preservation of a nation/culture that has brought improvement in the quality of life and freedom to billions of people around the world (whether we gave it to them, or they bought or stole it).

Right now, there are millions of kids who weren't alive or were too young to remember that dreadful day. It's a cinch they aren't being taught about that aspect of 'peaceful' Islam in school (but don't get caught wearing an American flag tee shirt!), and, other than an annual reminder on the History Channel or NatGeo, the media has conveniently decided that we don't need to be burdened with such memories, even though that event has affected all our lives in ways most don't even notice anymore - most notably in our loss of freedom. And for all the truly peace-loving (and generally silent) Muslims out there, they are being far overshadowed by people such as the young female college student recently encountered by communist-turned-conservative David Horowitz during a speech he gave at UC San Diego. She gave a dramatic impression of what can be expected if Muslims are allowed to continue their below-the-radar colonization of America unopposed.

We've got a whole lot of re-educating to do, and we can't expect much help from the government, the schools, or the media.

Don'tcha hate it when he's right?  I know it's an anomaly, but the media Left was practically tripping over itself this past week as it danced around the possibility that Glenn Beck might actually be right about something. Or many somethings. Story after story affirms many of Beck's dire predictions. They can't realistically accuse him of being a GOP hack because he goes after both parties with equal vehemence. He admits that both - but particularly the Democrat Party - have been hollowed out by Progressives, who have worked insidiously to undermine them in order to change the US into little more than another impoverished, enslaved communist third-world satellite. If they succeed, there won't be any "first-world" left.

Don't know much about history...  If you were subjected to the American education system over the past 75 years or so, you have probably learned less and less about your own country than any other nation on Earth. That's not to say you weren't taught anything, but (especially in recent decades) most of what you learned was probably not the stuff that makes you proud to be an American. Glenn Beck has a real passion for our history, and the Founders in particular. He's begun a series on his Fox News Channel (5 pm, Eastner time) that he calls Founding Father's Friday.  So far, he's done an hour each on Samuel Adams, George Washington, and George Whitefield, who can honestly be called the real "Father of the Revolution". Fascinating stuff that I'm guessing you don't know about, but will be pleasantly surprised to learn. I am.

Stepping up to the plate.  New Jersey Goveror Chris Christie continues to impress conservatives with his straightforwardness and honesty in dealing with the problems of his state. Nowhere is this more evident than his response to one of the mealy-mouthed minions of the Fourth Estate in a recent press conference. He is the anti-PC politician. If he were running for President, I'd probably have voted for him on the spot.

The check's in the mail.  The secretive International Monetary Fund (IMF) is pledging to bail out the bankrupt country of Greece, to the tune of nearly $1 trillion. The US taxpayer's contribution to the IMF is 17%.  Don't you feel generous?  Anyone with an ounce of credibility is studiously avoiding endorsing the bailout, worrying that it does little more than buy time until the country collapses. According to Carl Weinberg, chief economist of High Frequency Economics in Valhalla, N.Y., “Lending more money to already overborrowed governments does not solve their problems.”

Too Late To Apologize - A Declaration.  If you haven't seen this campy music video, allow me to recommend you check it out. It's a semi-satiric adaptation of Timbaland's vid "Apologize" that takes the perspective of the American Revolution. It was designed to make history more interesting for students. It works. It rocks, and it educates. Well executed, and a good tune.

Put on some coffee.  As those of you who bother to read this tacky little blog probably know, I'm something of a conservative (insert collective gasp here). So I have a concern about the progress (no pun intended) of the conservative effort to repopulate the once-hallowed halls of Washington D.C. - as well as state and local governments - with people who actually share our ideals, as opposed to those who simply pretend to only long enough to get elected. It's not just the deceptive superficiality of some supposedly-conservative commentators and the difficulty of finding truly conservative candidates to replace the two-faced weasels now in office; there are also the problems of getting conservative voters to unify on both principles and tactics.

Move along, move along.  There are some fascinating conceptual technologies being looked at, including a unique mono-wheel people-mover from Honda that goes one step beyond the Segway.  But as I watch the short video presentation, I have to wonder: what's the point, other than the intellectual excercise of designing and building it? This device would have a reasonable amount of "wow" factor, but it would only tend to make some people even lazier than they already are. It also doen't look like it could support a very heavy person or take a lot of abuse. It would probably be effective for an indoor environment (without stairs) but rough ground might be problematic. However, it does have that "cutesy" Asian/European-tech feel that will have a lot of younger folks who really don't need it clamoring to be first in line to get one, if it ever goes into production.
