Wish I'd said that!

In recent decades, the ACLU has used its so-called "wall" to fight tooth and nail to prevent government sponsorship of the Pledge of Allegiance, memorial crosses, Ten Commandments displays, nativity scenes, Bible displays, and virtually every other acknowdgement of America's religious heritage.

At the same time, it is worthwhile to note that there have been some instances in which the ACLU has endorsed public displays of religion. For example, When New York City Mayor Rudi Giuliani threatened to cut taxpayer funding from the Brooklyn Museum of Art for displaying a painting of the Virgin Mary with cow dung and pictures of female sexual organs pasted all over her body, the ACLU was first in line to defend the display. U.S. District Court Judge Nina Gershon ruled that New York City's elected officials were not allowed to place conditions on the museum's funding.

In another instance, the ACLU offered its support to the taxpayer-funded National Endowment for the Arts, after the agency sponsored an art show featuring "Piss Christ" - an exhibit consisting of a crucifix submerged in a jar of urine.

In the ACLU's myopic world, it appears that the only permissible publicly-funded displays of religion are those which blatantly mock or disparage the Christian faith.

Necessary disagreement

Before I proceed, I want to call attention to an extremely important issue. According to Lord Christopher Monckton, President Obama is poised to sign a new UN Global Climate Treaty in Copenhagen this December which will cede American sovereignty over to all the petty dictatorships and in the world. It is the Marxist and anti-American dream; to take America's wealth and give it to undeserving nations (and their own elite) under the specious premise of 'reparations'. The implications are staggering, not only for the nation as a whole but for all of us as individuals. It is something which must be stopped, and there is very little time remaining to do so.

Hush! Federal Communications Commission 'diversity czar' Mark Lloyd is worrying others in the commission because some of the things he has spoken of and written about are not reassuring in regard to freedom of speech. For those who aren't aware (thanks to our un-education system and Party line media), the First Amendment was written specifically to protect political and religious speech. It wasn't designed to protect liars, perverts, demagogues, 'performance artists', or evil-minded Pied Pipers, although it does offer that protection by default. This malAdministration is doing all it can to cripple free speech and to control the press.

In a 2006 book he wrote, Lloyd wrote that he thought (warning: snooze alert) public broadcasting should be funded at or above commercial spending levels. In other words; that PBS should get more public funding than commercial stations are allowed to make from their own labor. The most despicable part of this is that he wants that funding to be extorted from the commercial stations that actually have to sell things and work for their money.

Lloyd and others of his mindset are - as implied by their own words - intent upon stifling that freedom for the very people and reasons it was designed to protect, while protecting those it wasn't; i.e., those who tout the Party line. So, I find it both comforting and troubling that FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell said Tuesday that some of Lloyd's statements about regulating freedom of speech in broadcasting worried him as well. Comforting, because someone in the bureaucracy (albeit a minority Republican) actually has the stones to speak up. Troubling, because it is even an issue in America.

Hush II. In a related item, the Obama malAdministration is going all out against its greatest foe: Fox News. Apparently the fledgling regime of New Amerika feels that freedom of the press is a greater threat than radical Islam, resurgent Russia, China calling in our debts, or even the swine flu. Team Obama is trying to isolate Fox and make it irrelevent; the amazing thing about this is that they're doing it by treating the other networks like cheap whores. However, the only way they will do that is to force it off the air, since Fox's ratings are swamping all the other news networks - combined!

Of course, while I believe most Americans have their head on straight in most things, there are millions who will believe the lies about Fox, because the Left has done a magnificent job of making Americans stupid, and most of those folks won't even check out Fox to see if the accusations are true.

This 'stupidization' process has been going on for a very long time. First the Left/progressives gained control of the teaching colleges and public schools. It stopped teaching children about their own country's accomplishments and insinuated globalism instead of nationalism, then it changed the culture by using entertainment to emasculate men and masculate women, to humanize criminals and our enemies and dehumanize our own unborn, and by de-legitimizing our constitutional rights and demonizing the capitalist system which made us the greatest nation in history; and not incidentally, has allowed us to help lift most of the rest of the world out of savagery and ignorance (excepting their own internal corruption).

Rush to judgment. There's blood in the water, and the Left is circling like sharks. Rush Limbaugh came under fierce attack last week by the ethically-challenged propagandists in what used to be known as journalism. A littany of unsubtantiated racist remarks has been passed from pundit to pundit, with the tale being embellished with every retelling. Simply because he dared to join a group of investors wanting to buy the St. Louis Rams team, Rush was accused of making remarks defending slavery and denigrating blacks, especially those in sports. It was the culmination of two decades of pissing off the Left, resulting in a Pyrrhic victory for them.

The only problem: there has been no proof. Rush has been on the radio 5 days a week for over 20 years; you'd think that someone would be able to find an audio clip of such egregious remarks. It was discovered that these spurious charges oozed from a liberal sportswriter named Bryan Burwell, who in turn was repeating nonsense from liberal author Jack Huberman, who has made a career of writing off-the-wall (i.e., unsubstantiated) books attacking conservatives.

The important thing to keep in mind is that while the Left attacks those like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage and others, they never seem to cite actual facts; their weapon of choice is the slur, the invective, the name-calling, the accusations without proof. On the other hand, most conservatives, including those I mentioned, rely heavily on proving their assertions - because their audience and their personal ethics demand it) by showing the actual writings or playing the audio and video clips of the people they talk about, and inviting the opposition to defend themselves with facts. In other words, they use actual evidence to back up their claims.

I know that's pretty much unthinkable in today's liberal/progressive media, but this is how the game of life should be played. Take Beck for example. He is painstaking in his verification of the things he presents; and some of the stuff he's discovered will - as he is fond of saying - "make your eyes bleed." Lest you think I'm being overly critical (nah), and in the interest of fairness, occasionally, some on the other side actually get something right.

Don't fence me out! Democrats are once again demonstrating their (mistaken) belief that fences don't make good neighbors. Several border-state senators killed an amendment that would have provided 700 more miles of tall fencing along our leaky southern border. Senator Jim Demint (R-SC) had proposed the amendment to a Homeland Security appropriation bill, but the opposition opted to defer the funds for "other purposes." According to DeMint, "Democrats are gutting the best tool we have to secure our borders. Virtual fencing won't solve the problem, and we need a real fence to deter the real problems of illegal immigration, terrorism, drug trafficking and human trafficking."

The liberal alternative - when they feel they must provide something - relies heavily on monitoring for intrusions rather than actually keeping people out. This is like calling 911 after a crime has been committed; the culprits have already done the damage, and the only recourse is trying to find them and hoping the court will actually prosecute them.

Sands of time. Art has long been used as an effective propaganda tool, teaching aid, and to manipulate feelings in a variety of different ways. Governments recognize this; in fact the Obama malAdministration not only "managed" the media during the campaign and afterward, it is currently pressing the 4 major networks to incorporate the theme of national service in their upcoming programming.

But it can be used in other ways, too. I'll leave you with this amazing work from a passionate and talented artist with a unique art form - sand anime - and her powerful history lesson from Ukraine. It is my hope and prayer that we in the United States never have to tell such a tale.
