Wish I'd said that!

In recent decades, the ACLU has used its so-called "wall" to fight tooth and nail to prevent government sponsorship of the Pledge of Allegiance, memorial crosses, Ten Commandments displays, nativity scenes, Bible displays, and virtually every other acknowdgement of America's religious heritage.

At the same time, it is worthwhile to note that there have been some instances in which the ACLU has endorsed public displays of religion. For example, When New York City Mayor Rudi Giuliani threatened to cut taxpayer funding from the Brooklyn Museum of Art for displaying a painting of the Virgin Mary with cow dung and pictures of female sexual organs pasted all over her body, the ACLU was first in line to defend the display. U.S. District Court Judge Nina Gershon ruled that New York City's elected officials were not allowed to place conditions on the museum's funding.

In another instance, the ACLU offered its support to the taxpayer-funded National Endowment for the Arts, after the agency sponsored an art show featuring "Piss Christ" - an exhibit consisting of a crucifix submerged in a jar of urine.

In the ACLU's myopic world, it appears that the only permissible publicly-funded displays of religion are those which blatantly mock or disparage the Christian faith.

You Always Hurt The Ones You Love

President Obama spoke eloquently to a crowd on Sept 11 about our love for our country, obviously including himself in that characterization. So far, however, his love seems a bit estranged, to say the least. Take, for example, just a handful of the people he picked to exert major power over this population:

- Van Jones, the "green czar," was dumped (er...resigned) after a firestorm of protest over several recordings of his racist comments and evidence of his communist leanings were publicized.

- Cass Sunstein, Obama's regulatory czar, believes in legal rights and representation (at taxpayer expense, I presume) for animals, and apparently thinks there is nothing extraordinary about the human species worthy of special consideration. Among other things, he has called for a ban on all hunting. His special talent is 'tweaking' laws and regulations to restrict freedoms and behavior to conform with his agenda. Incidentally, Sunstein isn't a great fan of the First Amendment.

- Science czar John Holdren, who once outlined a method of population control by adding substances to public water supplies that would sterilize women, believes that the human population is little more than "a pulsating mass of maggots", and believes we should reject much of our modern technology (although I have a feeling his house wouldn't be reduced to the equivalent of a prehistoric cave dwelling).

- The new head of OSHA, David Michaels, is a staunch opponent of the Second Amendment. His position exerts tremendous authority over occupations involving firearms, including private security, firearms instructors, and firearms manufacturers. OSHA fines for its 'zero tolerance' regulations often amount to thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars, and can easily bankrupt smaller manufacturers and individuals that aren't in bed with the malAdministration.

Uprooting ACORN. While the mainstream media remains in the dark, the organization that Obama rode to prominence and used to carry him into the White House has been taken down. Its troubles range from numerous indictments for voter registration fraud, to recent incidents of hidden camera interviews of ACORN employees in Baltimore, Brooklyn and Washington DC, counseling an alleged prostitute in how to get a house to conduct her 'business', along with ways to beat the system and evade taxes. The latest was the US Census Bureau severing all ties with the organization. ACORN was scheduled to help conduct the upcoming census (which it shouldn't do in the first place, since they are functionally more of an arm of the Democrat party than a community assistance association.

So, what has been the reaction to these startling revelations? The Baltimore D.A.'s office, instead of pursuing the evidence presented in the video, issued a statement to the effect that the video isn't good enough. Worse, it intones that it may have been illegal to secretly video the illegal and immoral advice given by the ACORN employees. So much for encouraging community watchdogs in Maryland. If nothing else, it gives an indication of how high up the food chain the corruption extends in Baltimore.

Meanwhile, a fourth video has been released showing an ACORN employee in San Diego, CA, giving more advice on how to get away with setting up a whorehouse with underage foreign girls. This person's contributions are the most startling yet. If all this doesn't indicate a systemic corruption in the organization, what would?

These videos have sent ripples throughout the nation and the government, and they are all the more devastating because the increasingly less-mainstream media has done their utmost to ignore the evidence. Even Comedy Channel's liberal (do they even have a conservative?) pundit Jon Stewart was appalled by this absence of critical attention - either through incompentence or complicity - to one of the major stories of the year. It was left up to an inspired, home-schooled 20-year-old girl and a 25-year-old amateur filmmaker to open this hornet's nest and put all the pros to shame.

Where's the party? If you're watching any network other than Fox News (Why?), or reading any of the mainstream press or news websites, you may be completely unaware that on Saturday, September 12, hundreds of thousands of Americans gathered around the nation to take back our government from corrupt officials, and many more - up to 1.7 million people, according to the University of Indiana - peacefully filled the streets in Washington DC to protest government abuse and excess. But the White House continues to deny or minimize the extent of America's anger. Fortunately, the malAdministration is talking to an increasingly shrinking segment of the population; mostly those without cable news and the internet, and those who choose to keep the blinders on and drink the Kool-Aid.

The 'mainstream' media - which constantly bombarded us during the Bush terms with every little and large protest - has been unbelieveably silent when it comes to any disagreement with Obama policies or government's continual invasion of our lives and wallets. It seems that no - or damn few - cameras were present at these events from ABC, NBC, or CBS. This "silence of the cams," along with the intentional neglect in the print press, should set thinking Americans on high alert, because those corporations have long since stopped being news organizations and have become propaganda arms of the Obama malAdministration. Barack Obama is the new face of Big Brother; the media have become his fawning and complicit heralds.
