Wish I'd said that!

In recent decades, the ACLU has used its so-called "wall" to fight tooth and nail to prevent government sponsorship of the Pledge of Allegiance, memorial crosses, Ten Commandments displays, nativity scenes, Bible displays, and virtually every other acknowdgement of America's religious heritage.

At the same time, it is worthwhile to note that there have been some instances in which the ACLU has endorsed public displays of religion. For example, When New York City Mayor Rudi Giuliani threatened to cut taxpayer funding from the Brooklyn Museum of Art for displaying a painting of the Virgin Mary with cow dung and pictures of female sexual organs pasted all over her body, the ACLU was first in line to defend the display. U.S. District Court Judge Nina Gershon ruled that New York City's elected officials were not allowed to place conditions on the museum's funding.

In another instance, the ACLU offered its support to the taxpayer-funded National Endowment for the Arts, after the agency sponsored an art show featuring "Piss Christ" - an exhibit consisting of a crucifix submerged in a jar of urine.

In the ACLU's myopic world, it appears that the only permissible publicly-funded displays of religion are those which blatantly mock or disparage the Christian faith.

Tick...tick...tick

Before I rant, here's a great new acoustic music video from "Big N' Rich's John Rich to get you in the spirit. Enjoy!

While America is being steamrolled into oblivion by this president and his co-conspirators, many of our countrymen remain oblivious to the approaching collapse of life as we know it. And in their mental oblivion, they become unwitting participants in the drama. Take the University of Notre Dame, for example. A bastion of Catholic higher education (and yes, that football thing), the iconic school has invited President Obama to deliver the commencement address to this year's graduating class, and receive an honorary degree. When critics noted that Obama has dedicated himself to all things diametrically opposed to Church positions, university president Rev. John I. Jenkins held fast, issuing a lame statement to the effect that, just because Obama speaks at the school doesn't mean the school endorses his positions on such matters as abortion and embryonic stem cell research. I guess Rev. Jenkins thinks that he can invite the Devil to tea and not get burned.

In Kansas, serial abortionist George Tiller was let off the hook when he was acquitted of all 19 misdemeanor counts relating to violations of state law regarding abortions. Thirty other counts were dropped in 2006 by State Attorney General Phil Kline, which may have had an influence on the outcome of the latest trial. Tiller specializes in late-term (i.e., partial-birth) abortions. It should be noted that even if he had been convicted the case would have been appealed, and 4 of the 7 state Supreme Court justices were appointed by Governor Sebellious, who is an abortion supporter. I will probably rant further on this topic at some point, but for now, the silent holocaust continues.

I've noticed that at least in our area of upstate New York, there has been a minimal impact on the surface (in other words, where most people live) so far. But things are changing behind the scenes at a rapid pace, and if those changes continue we will be seeing significant changes before too long. If you're one of those people who still thinks life is going on as usual, consider this very short list:

- Californication, the state that has served as a test bed for the coming Socialist States of Amerika, has upped the ante for government intrusion yet again, this time by taking the campaign joke about maintaining tire pressure and turning it into a law. By 2010, service stations will be required to check tire pressure when a vehicle is brought in for service, such as oil changes. While it is a good idea to maintain correct pressure, this is another example of government micromanaging our lives; and ideas such as this will certainly spread to other states. The problem is that a government out of control does not know when to stop, and every intrustion will cost the taxpayer money, time and another piece of freedom.

- The Obama malAdministration is seriously looking at a new United Nations document on climate change (the new language for the increasingly-discredited global warming) which, if adopted, will transfer trillions of dollars, will likely cost millions of American jobs, and add even more onorous taxes (which will go to the UN, and you know how well they handle money). Defenders of the proposal claim it will produce new jobs, but how many people can you employ making solar panels (mostly made overseas) and windmills; especially when the environmental wacko lobby now wants to prevent solar panel farms and windmills from 'cluttering up' the deserts and other prime areas?

- In London and other European cities, mobs protested the upcoming G20 summit, spouting the usual socialist mantras, apparently oblivious to the fact that socialism has caused most of the problems they are complaining about. And it's likely to get a lot worse, as authorities are
gearing up for an anticipated "summer of rage." Europe is ahead of us in feeling the crunch of financial collapse as demand outweighs supply in jobs, and necessities become more expensive and scarce. 'Rage' riots may be coming to our shores if the current trends aren't slowed or reversed.

- In the latest episode of using language to screw us up, the much-hyped Freedom Tower, which is intended to replace the fallen World Trade Center, will now be renamed "One World Trade Center". So what was supposed to be a monument to the thousands who died on September 11 will instead become a monument to the new "One World" mantra (Oh, you thought it referred to just the address? Tsk, tsk.) I wonder if the name change had anything to do with the Chinese buying several floors of the new skyscraper.

- And let's not forget the unprecedented power grab by the malAdministration, which are literally taking us to the brink of dictatorship. Kudos to congresswoman Michelle Bachmann, a down-to-earth Christian conservative republican from Minnesota who drives the lefties crazy, asked "Turbo-Tax Tim" Geithner and Ben Bernancke some tough questions during hearings concerning a global currency. However, neither men answered her inquiries as to "What provision of the Constitution gives authority to the Federal Reserve for the extraordinary actions that have been taken?" After dancing around the questions without answering Bachmann's very specific questions, Chairman Barney Fife...er...Frank perfunctorily cut her off. But let's not forget that Mr. Frank is himself up to his eyeballs in this mess, and is in the peculiar position of being able to protect himself by silencing opposition. And I believe that tactic is becoming the principle operating principle of this government. First, they try to silence opposition, then they try to discredit it, and when that fails they try to destroy it. Keep your eye on the Left as it attacks the voices of the Right.

Now I want to address what I believe is a very important topic: the Second Amendment. Let me state at the outset that I hope and pray that we can weather this purposely induced economic storm without turning to violence, as have most other countries facing such problems.

It is hardly a secret that the Left dearly wishes to remove the right to private possession of arms (of course, the ruling elite and their sycophants would be exempt). The fact is that no totalitarian or authoritarian government would or could allow a free people to retain weapons (the exception being Saddam Hussein, who so terrorized his people that few would dare raise a hand against him for fear of retaliation upon their family in the most horrendous ways. He allowed citizens to keep an AK47 at home, ostensibly to react to mobilization orders in event of invasion).

Some conservative pundits -- including my current favorite, Glenn Beck -- claim to support the Second Amendment, yet totally distance themselves from even the possibility that the American people might present an armed response to dictatorship. I believe he and those of similar opinion may feel they have to keep that rhetorical distance for (justified) fear of being held responsible for any such action that might take place. Still, the fact remains that the Founders' primary intent for including the amendment was not for sport or hunting, it was for the citizens' defense of their families, to facilitate gathering together into a "well regulated militia" to resist foreign invasion, and most importantly to some, to resist tyranny. If you totally discount any possible scenario that might call for resorting to coordinated, armed rebellion against such an internal and infernal foe, why argue for the right to keep and bear arms at all?

If I haven't done so already, let me make my own position clear; any armed rebellion must be the absolute last resort, having exhausted all other options. Take me at my word, I don't want to see it happen. Too many honest, hardworking, good people would get hurt and killed, many more would be branded as criminals and imprisoned, and too few would think it through before they acted. It's even possible that an aspiring Fuhrer would want such an insurrection to occur, because it would present the perfect opportunity to impose martial law, to disarm the people and institute other draconian measures to quell it, thereby insuring his continuing reign ("Never let a good crisis go to waste." -- Rahm Emmanuel). Isolated incidents would be quickly suppressed and mopped up, intimidating others into submission. When government no longer fears the people, it will be the people who fear not only the true criminals, but their government 'protectors' as well.

Are you really depressed now? Before you think I'm all soft and fluffy, consider the other side of this coin: there are currently several million Americans -- men and women from all walks of life -- who have had combat or law enforcement training, and hundreds of thousands who have seen and experienced combat personally. And a lot of them actually love their country and respect the Constitution. They know about the horrors of war, and would not want to see it on the home front.

That being said, any aspiring dictator should be aware that we Americans can be a pernicious lot. Amid the masses of the dumbfounded sheeple there are some real tigers among us; tigers with both claws and brains. We can take a lot, but most have a line drawn within us that you don't want to cross. The Civil War showed that Americans will fight for what they believe, even against their own countrymen and families. It is the most egregious form of war, but let me put it to you this way: if you were a citizen of Nazi Germany -- especially if you knew of the horrors committed in your name -- how long would you have remained just another compliant citizen of the Reich? How long will you allow fear to rule you? And if you are a cop or a soldier, how far would you go in obeying orders you knew were immoral or illegal? Would you be loyal to the oath you took to defend the Constitution, or would you meekly defer to the ruling class because it provides you with "3 hots and a cot"?

As this government continues to dismantle the efforts of two centuries of freedom and growth; as they spit on the graves of hundreds of thousands who gave their lives for this country; as they continue to provoke us, to divide us, to silence us, to destroy our prosperity and enslave our posterity to debt and poverty it becomes increasingly possible that somewhere, sometime they will move the balance beam of a civil society over the fulcrum of restraint. And on that day, there will be Hell to pay.

The question remains, what will be the 'tipping point'?

"If my people, which are called by MY name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their Land". -- 2 Chronicles 7:14
